Cinematic Wedding Videography Wales

For this wedding, we left our usual stomping ground of the South West and travelled across the Severn Bridge to Wales to film Emilie and Joab's wedding. I will confess, we were a little more anxious than usual filming this wedding and that's because Joab is a very talented wedding photographer that we've had the pleasure of working with in the past. When he asked us if we would like to film his and Emilie's wedding day we were totally blown away. The pressure was on!

Everybody made us feel incredibly welcome and it was such a beautiful day with the most epic celebrations. These guys know how to party and have fun!

Thank you Joab and Emilie for being so lovely to be around, we wish you lots of luck and love in your future together.

Wedding Videography Review:

James and Kylie make the perfect videography couple. Working together they're never in the way or in your face, they just capture awesome footage without fuss. When we got our videos we were so very glad we'd hired them, seeing our day back was a blast of emotions and the quality of the video in so many ways was just amazing! We immediately watched the videos over and over. Thank you James & Kylie!

Devon Wedding Videographer // Pynes House Wedding Film

It feels like it's been a lifetime since I last posted anything here! The truth be told we've been super busy filming and photographing wedding all over the country which has turned out to be our busiest year to date. Right, let's get to it! We've been itching to share this wedding film with you guys for some time now, but before you hit play button please take the time to read a little below about how Alex and Sam met.

We filmed Alex and Sam's wedding at one of the best wedding venue in Devon, Pynes House. Pynes House really does hold a special place in our heart, the place is simply stunning and in our opinion the perfect place to get married. We love everything about it!

To the story... Alex met Sam at the local pub where Sam worked as bartender 10 days after arriving the UK from America on a study abroad program. Alex and four other girls managed to snag a table directly across from the bar and Alex volunteered to go up and order which ended up being their very first meeting.

Alex didn't notice Sam when she had first arrived but the moment Alex walked up to the bar and Sam caught her eyes she turned 10 shades of red, stumbled over her words and awkwardly walked back to where her friends were sitting. As the night went on, Alex plucked up the courage and nervously made her way to the bar.

The night was getting on and Alex psyched herself up enough to go and talk to him. Luckily, Sam was still manning the bar and there was literally no one else there ordering anything. They spoke for about five minutes and Alex found out Sam was moving to Vancouver B.C. in just over five weeks. Alex's heart sank and knew at that point nothing more could ever come from this chance encounter.

The next day Alex was celebrating Austraila Day with friends. Later on that night
Alex was quickly approached by a couple friends telling her that "Sam the sexy bartender" will also be out. To Alex's surprise, that very night Sam approached Alex and asked for her number. Less than a week later they had their first date, which quickly turned into a whirlwind romance lasting just over 5 weeks, and then an even more intense 2-year long distance relationship and the rest is history.

Alex and Sam's love story will always stay with. It just goes to show true love is not a fairy tale, rather true love is all about facing challenges and overcoming the hurdles to make life what you want it to be. Kylie and I are blessed to get this insight into people's lives and we are so grateful that couples trust us to tell their story.

Alex and Sam's wedding day was pure perfection. It was a pleasure meeting you both and filming your special day. We wish you both the very best for the future. You guys are amazing!

If you're searching for a videographer and photographer look no further. We'd love to hear about your wedding plans. Feel free to email us.

Documentary Wedding Videography Somerset // Brympton House // Nikki + Jonathan

Brympton House in Yeovil, Somerset, is one very special place. The wedding venue is rich in style, comfort and history which makes a perfect place for couples to celebrate their wedding day with family and friends. The manor itself was built in the 13th Century by the D’Evercy family and is widely considered to be the most beautiful house in England.

Nikki and Jonathan said the vows in the stunning medieval Castle House which is situated right next to the manor house and a short walk from the bridal suite. After the wedding ceremony, Allister Freeman Photography, lined up the guests to capture an epic confetti shot of the two newlyweds exiting the Castle House.

The chilly December weather didn’t deter some the guests from making the most of the stunning gardens that Brympton D’Evercy have to offer. After three great speeches, the light faded and the mist came down and the happy couple joined their guests in the Stables Bar, where they partied the night away in style.

Brympton House Wedding Filming

We absolutely loved filming our first wedding at the magnificent Brympton House and can’t wait to film many more weddings there. It’s the most amazing place for a documentary wedding videographer to capture a couple's wedding day.

A big congratulation to Mr & Mrs Fletcher! We can’t thank you enough for choosing Storybox Films to film your special day.

Should We Book a Wedding Videographer?

Should we book a wedding videographer?

Deciding whether or not you should have your wedding filmed tends to be a difficult decision for couples when planning their wedding. In our experience, Brides to be are more inclined to at least consider booking a wedding videographer, whereas their other half is more likely against the idea. It's something that isn't for everyone, but it could also be the best decision you've ever made. Please read on to find out more - should we book we wedding videographer?

I've booked a wedding photographer, isn't that enough?

Having a professional wedding photographer take photos on your wedding day is incredibly important. For most couples, booking a wedding photographer in the early stages of planning their wedding will come fairly high up on the list after booking their dream wedding venue.

Photos have the ability to capture so much emotion in one single frame that will stick with your forever. The moment the bride walks down the aisle and the groom turns around to see her in her dress for the very first time is a magical moment for a photographer to capture, but imagine watching that moment unfold from two camera angles and with audio too! All of a sudden you now have something that is much more dynamic and more of an experience.

The same can be said for your wedding speeches. A photographer doesn't have the ability to capture the laughter and emotion from the words being spoken during your speeches. Having this part of your day filmed will let you relive the best man's hilarious speech over and over again.

Would a wedding videographer get in the way?

An experienced wedding videographer should never get in the way. It's a common misconception that wedding videographers will take control of your day and they have huge camera's that look like they've come off a Steven Spielberg film set. The matter of fact is, this couldn't be any further from the truth.

Wedding filming has come a long way in the last 10 years and so has technology. Gone are the days that wedding videographer is going to turn up with a large camera on his shoulder and film your wedding. The type of cameras we use these days are small and in most cases no bigger than the camera that your photographer will be using.

Couples are also concerned that having their wedding filmed will turn their wedding into some type of film set. They're worried that we're going to interrupt their guests and take control of their special day. This couldn't be any further from the truth either. An experienced, talented videographer wants to capture genuine moments, they are less interested in posed manufactured moments. Photographers can get away with shooting posed moments, but for videographers, this rarely works. Videographers are more likely to film most of your day from the distance. In our case, when it comes to filming the bride and groom we will give a little direction and capture the moments when you're relaxed and forget we're present.

What do couples have to say that go on to book a wedding videographer?

"We hardly knew they were there on the day and our guests said the same, they were so discreet and calm on the day. They listened to what we wanted and kept in touch from original booking up until when the film got posted out to us. We have watched the film several times and we loved the little wooden box it was presented in! It is something we will treasure forever". - Leanna & Mat

"I must admit I was sceptical about what videographers would offer on top of the photography, but watching everything back brings a sense of emotion you just can’t capture in a still, it’s remembering the words you spoke and how you felt in those moments that on a day like that otherwise just become a blur. To anyone who is even remotely considering having a videographer you will not be disappointed and we honestly cannot recommend James & Kylie any more highly. In retrospect, it was one of the best decisions we made." - James & Rachael

A word of advice from a wedding videographer: If you're worried about how much control a wedding videographer will need on your wedding day, the best thing you can do is arrange a phone call and ask the videographer to explain how they go about filming a wedding. Start at the beginning and work your way through the wedding day.

What will the quality be like of my wedding film?

A professional and established videographer will be able to produce a wedding film that wouldn't look out of place if you were to see it on your television. Professional filmmakers that shoot weddings for a living usually have some type of experience in the television industry or filming promotional and corporate videos for businesses. They will be skilled in not only filming your wedding but also recorded the audio from your wedding. This is something that can perhaps be overlooked. It takes a highly skilled videographer to be able to record your wedding vows and speeches so they can be clearly be heard in your final edited wedding film.

With the recent technology advancements, video camera's have been improved to shoot in lower light situations, which is great for us videographers because it now allows us to shoot cleaner looking video during your reception when you're busting your moves on the dance floor. As long as your videographer is shooting in Full HD 1080p you should have no problems at all and your wedding film will look awesome at home on your widescreen television.

Why having your wedding filmed can be the best decision you will ever make?

If you ask almost any bride what she remembers about her special day she will probably tell you that it all went by so fast that most of it was one big blur. It's inevitable that and bride and groom will miss parts of their wedding day. While the bride is busy putting her dress on, she will miss her groom full of anticipation arriving for the ceremony with his groomsmen.

It's well documented the brides that don't book a wedding videographer go on to regret it. Only about 50 percent of about-to-be-married brides thought videography was one of the top ten things to include in the wedding. After the surveyed brides had gotten married, though, that number climbed to 75 percent—more of them wished they'd actually had their weddings filmed. And 98 percent of the newlyweds said they'd recommend videography to other couples.

The medium of video has an incredible amount of power. Let's think about it this way, when you watch a film at the cinema or a documentary on the television, you can experience all types of emotion, you laugh, you cry, you're moved in some way or form. Video allows creative videographers to combine music, sound and visuals to tell the story of your wedding, which is a once in a lifetime day.

Booking a wedding videographer may seem like a "luxury” expense, but in the end, it will actually extend your entire wedding investment by decades by preserving the memories you've made. Having great photographs and a great film go hand-in-hand but each does not “replace” the other. They serve two completely different purposes

If you're still unsure, we advise you go and read this article that was published on 'Rock My Wedding' about a brides regret not booking a wedding videographer

Huntstile Organic Farm Wedding Videographer // Somerset Wedding Videography // Jasmine + Sean

Storybox Films filmed Jasmine and Sean's wedding day at the uniquely special Huntstile Organic Farm which is set in the ancient Somerset hills just outside Bridgwater. If rural English countryside weddings are your type of thing, you will absolutely LOVE this wedding.

Jasmine and Sean chose to have a Humanist handfasting ceremony, a pagan tradition where the couple's hands are bound together with ribbon. The wedding ceremony was held at the ancient staddle stones, the circle lies on the edge of a wood upon a hilltop with breathtaking views across the unspoilt Somerset countryside.

Huntstile Organic Farm Stone Circle

We adore these type of ceremonies and everything they stand for. Jasmine and Sean wrote their own ceremony and their own heartfelt personal vows that we feel add so much to a wedding day and any wedding film. We seriously recommended couples to at least consider writing their own vows, especially if you're thinking of having your wedding filmed, we promise you won't regret it.

"I asked Sean and Jasmine what they're most looking forward to as a married couple. Sean said, starting a family together, I am excited to create a home with Jasmine and see what kind of Mother she becomes, I look forward to watching what Jasmine is capable of. Jasmine said she is simply looking forward to EVERYTHING, to starting our family, taking our family name and seeing Sean become a Father. I'm looking forward to every little bit of it, every grey hair, smile line and sore joint. I'm looking forward to spending every day we have with the other half of me".

Such a beautiful couple and magical wedding day. We thank you both for choosing us to film your special day at Huntstile Organic Farm. We loved every minute of it!

We're super excited to finally share Jessica and Mark wedding that took place on the grounds of Gilbert White’s House in Selbourne where there is a charming rustic 16th century Hampshire Barn, with glorious views over tranquil meadows out the back. The ceremony was held just outside the barn overlooking the rolling hills and peaceful meadows.

Rustic barn weddings are one of our favourite type of weddings to film and this one didn't disappoint. The ceremony was very special and the whole day had relaxed an atmosphere to it. A massive thank you to Jessica and Mark for having us along. Thanks to all their friends for being so awesome and welcoming.

Barford Park Barn Wedding Videography // Wiltshire Wedding Filming // Sarah + Danny

Sarah and Danny choose to get married in the enchanting New Forest at Christ Church, Emery Down, followed by their reception at the idyllic Barford Park just outside the New Forest in Wiltshire. The converted 17th Century Barn lies within 15 acres of mature farmland and water meadows, surrounded by the Avon Valley it was the perfect backdrop to film Sarah and Danny's very special Harry Potter themed wedding day.

Barford Park Barn Wiltshire Wedding Videographer

Sarah and Danny had an awesome Harry Potter themed wedding with long tables with Hogwarts house banners, a bar called the Three Broomsticks and little golden snitches as wedding favours. No prize for guessing Sarah is a super fan of Harry Potter and being an artist too she handmade many of the wedding decorations. Truly fantastic!

We've wanted to film a wedding in the New Forest for so long now and it was amazing to finally get the chance to do it. The New Forest is such a special place during the summer time and looks beautiful on camera. It was lovely working with Catherine and Andy from White Stag Wedding Photography, be sure to head over to their website and check out their stunning work.

Quantock Lakes Wedding // Wedding Videography Somerset // Ryan + Leanne

Ryan and Leanne celebrated their wedding day at the beautiful Quantock Lakes set in the heart of Somerset's breath-taking countryside with the surrounding Quantock Hills providing the perfect backdrop to film and photograph a magical wedding day.

We find ourselves all over the South West of England and further field filming weddings these days so it was nice to have a wedding relatively local for a change. Ryan and Leanne's wedding was back in August on a very hot and humid day, but this did not stop these two from having the time of their lives and enjoying every moment of it.

Ryan & Leanne Wedding Videography Review

Eden Project Wedding Videographer // Cornwall Wedding Film

Cornwall's Eden Project is a pretty unique wedding venue. As far as I am aware there aren't many wedding venues in the UK that host their very own rainforest and Mediterranean climates. Who wants to jet off to the other side of the world when you can get married in the rainforest right here in the UK? To get the opportunity to film a wedding at the Eden Project was a real pleasure for us and we knew it would be a special wedding in a magnificent location.

Betsy and Ben came all the way from Washington in the United States of America to get married in the heart of Cornwall at the beautiful Eden Project. I was initially a little surprised Besty and Ben were coming all that way to get married here in the UK but after a quick search of the Eden Project on Google, it started to all make sense.

Sustainability is at the heart of what the Eden Project stands for. Connecting us to our living world, our living environment is what it's all about and is a major part of the message that they hope to convey. We thought it was very fitting that the Ben touched on this in his speech and absolutely loved his quote "if there is anything that binds us all together, it's that we're all dependent on the same basics to keep us all alive, we all need sunlight, we all need water, we all need plants, if we could all respect that and fulfill that more then I think we would all understand that we're all not that different and for today at least in my eyes, we're all one thing and united in the celebration of the oldest tradition that us humans have. It's a beautiful thing and I am never going to forget this day."

Kylie and I spend a lot of time exploring the Cornish coastline due to having close family there and we've always wanted to film more weddings in Cornwall. Filming Ben and Betsy's wedding was most definitely one of our highlights from 2016. We feel honoured they choose Storybox Films to film their wedding in such a magical place.

Betsy & Ben Wedding Videography Review

Here is a lovely review Besty left after watching their wedding film. "True talent and incredible to work with. We highly recommend Storybox Films. When my husband and I saw the teaser film we were brought to tears. They did a phenomenal job of capturing such a special day. High quality work, very professional and very kind. The best of the best here. Really. So thankful to have had them for our wedding".

Cambridge Wedding Videography // Longstowe Hall Wedding Film

Back in August, Storybox Films shot a stunning wedding in Cambridge at the incredibly picturesque Longstowe Hall. Dating back from the reign of Elizabeth 1, Longstowe Hall lies hidden within ancient woodland that opens out to reveal a glorious English garden. With its spectacular double borders sweeping down to the lake, Longstowe Hall offers the ideal setting for a truly romantic wedding in unspoilt countryside

We arrived at Longstowe Hall to film Tivi and Jake's wedding on a scorching summers day. At the time we weren't quite sure what to expect, and I remember Googling the venue the night before to some quick last minute research and thinking wow this place looks special.

It wasn't until we arrived and walked around the grounds to do a location recce that we realised how beautiful Longstowe Hall is. It was twelve thirty in the afternoon and the temperature was getting almost unbearable and set to be one of the warmest days of the year. It was challenging to film an outside ceremony with no shade in sight. However, the beautiful view made it worthwhile.

Filming Jake and Tivi's wedding ceremony was a pleasure. The gardens at Longstowe Hall was the perfect backdrop to film the coming together of two people, whose hearts and spirits are entwined as one. And to top it off they both had prepared touching vows to read to one another which always intensifies the emotion of a wedding ceremony and the wedding video. We are delighted that Tivi and Jake choose Storybox Films to film their very special day at the stunning Longstowe Hall.

Josie + George // Greek Wedding Video // Twelve Apostles Greek Orthodox Church & Brickendonbury Estate, Hertford

This week Storybox Films wedding videography is delighted to share with you Josie and George’s wedding that took place at Twelve Apostles Greek Orthodox Church followed by a beautiful reception amongst loving family and friends at Brickendonbury Estate, Hertford.

Josie contacted us back in March to film her wedding and I remember thinking, this is really cool, but we’ve never filmed a Greek wedding before and all I had to go on was the movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’.

So after the initial panic, we sat down and did our research. The important part for us was to make sure we didn’t miss anything; we wanted to be sure we had a fair understanding of the Greek traditions that would take place on the wedding day. For example, the Groom’s best man called the “Koumbaro” will shave the groom and dress him before the wedding. We needed to know these traditions or we ran the risk of being caught out and missing something.

Brickendonbury Estate, Hertford - Wedding Videography

It quickly became apparent that we’d have lot to film on the day compared to the usual weddings we film. Our target is to tell the story of your wedding day, so frankly more to film is simply better for us because it gives us more options when it comes to piecing your wedding film together in the editing stages.

We went to the wedding as prepared as we possibly could be, but this didn’t stop us feeling slightly nervous on the day. For us, it was definitely one of the most memorable weddings we have had the pleasure of filming. Greek weddings rock and are so uplifting! And they sure know how to party too!

It really was a fabulous day and we were honoured to be part of it. Best wishes for your future Josie and George.

David & Kim // Haselbury Mill Wedding Video - Somerset & Cornwall Wedding Videographer

Haselbury Mill wedding video filmed in Somerset, England by leading wedding videography team Storybox Films and featuring cinematic slow-motion video using Sony A7Rii and the DJI Ronin-M gimbal.

Haselbury Mill is often described as being “probably the most beautiful setting in the South West of England”. We can’t agree more, and we were lucky enough to have the opportunity of filming two weddings at this lovely venue this year.

The wedding venue is made of three stunning listed buildings and the newly built Great Tithe Barn, which is where we filmed Kim and David’s wedding day. Now, something that always puzzled me was the name ‘Great Tithe Barn’. Until recently I wasn’t aware a Tithe barn was a type of barn used in England and Germany in the middle ages and in the United States for storing the Tithes - a tenth of the farm's produce which had to be given to the church. Fact of the day.

Kim and David met at work in London where they shared the same kitchen and would meet daily for breakfast. After whirlwind romance of five and half months, Kim and David decided to leave London and start their new lives in Dubai together. As David says, "this was pretty big step, but when you know, you know, you know". Loved David's speech!

Cinematic Wedding Videography - DJI Ronin-M & Sony A7RII Slow Motion

It was great to finally use our new toy (DJI Ronin-M) to get some slow motion cinematic tracking shots with the Sony A7Rii. It’s very important to not get too caught up with equipment when filming weddings. Weddings are so fast paced and you can easily miss something very special if you’re messing around trying to set up some fancy equipment. However, every once in a while if the opportunity presents itself you can get some stunning shots using gimbals, sliders and drones.

So, yet again we were blessed with another perfect couple and a perfect day to film a wedding video. There are some people in this world who make anyone and everyone smile. They walk into a room and it’s like someone zapped the place with a bolt of energy. Case in point: David and Kim. I would catch myself grinning from ear to ear while editing their film.

Somerset Wedding Photographer - Storybox Photography

It’s been in the pipeline for some time now and after many late nights creating the website and make sure everything is in place, we are thrilled to say it's finally here, Storybox Wedding Photography is live! And we also have a newly designed website too for Storybox Films to match the branding of the photography site. Be sure to have a look around and let us know what you think.

Interestingly, when we set off on the journey of creating wedding films, we very nearly branded Storybox Films, Storybox Studio instead, and was planning on offering both wedding photography and videography under the same roof from the get-go. Ultimately I chose against it and decided to focus solely on creating cinematic wedding films and leaving the photography for another day.

On reflection, I think this was the right decision to make. Two yeas have gone by since we launched Storybox Films and it has gone strength to strength. I never thought for a minute it would take off like it has. It really has been a blessing. We’ve just completed our second wedding season and filmed over 20 weddings (nearly double year 1). I’m currently hidden away in my office editing the weddings we shot this season and I'm constantly finding new ways I can push our craft to create even more amazing wedding films next year.

With the wedding videography going so well, it made perfect sense to move towards wedding photography. My partner (Kylie) always wanted to focus on the photography side of weddings when we were in the planning stages of launching Storybox Films, but I persuaded to hold tight and we’d move to that area when Storybox Films was established.

So, the day has come and Kylie has full control of Storybox Photography, whilst I’ll carry on focusing on Storybox Films and creating cinematic wedding films.

Wedding photographers come in all shapes and sizes; we understand that and would say our style of wedding photography is a fusion of documentary and fine art, with the main focus on those natural moments, capturing your wedding day as it unfolds. We strongly believe in being as non-intrusive as possible on couple’s wedding days.

As many of you may know, we are based in Somerset and Cornwall in the South West of England, but will happily photograph weddings throughout the UK and Europe if such opportunity presented itself like we also do with our wedding videography.

We will be offering complete wedding day coverage, starting with the bridal preparations and ending with family and friends cutting some shapes on the dance floor. For more information please contact either myself, or head over to the Storybox Photography website here.

Some of you may be happy to discover we will be combining our wedding videography and photography collection for those couples that would like to book us for both. You will be pleased to know our photography collections are competitively priced to build our portfolio so please head over to our wedding photography page if you would like to find out more.

Please follow us on our Storybox Photography social media pages like FacebookTwitter and Instagram. We can’t wait to see what 2017 and beyond brings. Until next time.

Nick & Clare // Priston Mill Nr Bath & Bristol Wedding Film - Somerset & Cornwall Wedding Videographer

We had the incredible gift of filming Nick and Clare's emotional wedding day at the very idyllic Priston Mill, Bath, which is not too far from the city of Bristol in the West Country. The wedding ceremony was held at St John's Church in Bath. The City of Bath is renowned for its 18th century neo-classical architecture that dominates the city and attracts tourists from all over the world.

It was great to have the opportunity to film a wedding in the the centre of Bath as we usually find ourselves filming weddings out in the sticks in the middle of nowhere. After the ceremony finished we quickly visited Bath's delightful Parde Gardens with the very talented photographer, Joab Smith Photography, to get some shots of Clare and Nick before we left the city centre to head to the reception at Priston Mill. For those of you who aren't aware of this place check it out! It overlooks the River Avon and is the perfect backdrop to capture the Bride and Groom in the city centre of Bath. Even the tourists wanted to get involved and decided to take some photographs of their own.

Once at the reception, the sun finally broke through the clouds and the wedding day was in full swing at 18th-century Tyth Barn at Priston Mill. As the sun began to set we realised we needed to take advantage of the spectacular location and light. We grabbed the very willing Clare and Nick and headed off to a nearby field that overlooks the wedding venue. We was presented with one small problem... If we wanted to get to the field in the distance then we'd have to cross a stream. Considering it's their wedding day I had my doubts that Clare and Nick were going to be up for crossing a muddy stream. I was wrong; they said, "why not? Let's do it!" So the shoes came off, the trousers were rolled up and we crossed the muddy and surprisingly cold stream. Once we reached the top of the field we were rewarded for our efforts and captured some amazing moments of the two newlyweds together.

Clare and Nick finished the day off with some confetti canons and epic partying. We have to say it was pretty damn impressive and we were so glad we filmed it in slow motion! Thanks for the amazing action packed day.

We appreciate that Clare and Nick picked Storybox Films to create their wedding film for them. Be sure to check out their short feature film above and experience the beauty of their day through our offerings of cinematic wedding videography.

If you would like to learn how you can have your own wedding video like this couple, we encourage you to check your wedding date today. We love to meet a bride-to-be and Groom-to-be who are excited and care deeply about having a gorgeous wedding film.

Boringdon Park Golf Club Wedding Video // Plymouth, Devon // Wedding Videograher

Wow, first blog post in ages! As you can imagine we’ve been extremely busy filming weddings this summer across Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Hampshire and even London! As great as it's been filming these weddings all over the place, it has meant it's been difficult for us to keep our website and social media pages up to date as much as we’d like to. The good news is we’re back and we’ll be sharing some amazing weddings with you guys over the next couple of months.

To start it all off again, we have Garry and Samantha’s wedding video we filmed in Plymouth, Devon at Boringdon Park Golf Club which is on top of a hill overlooking River Plym in the distance. The location of the venue meant a lot to Garry and Samantha because of the views across Plymouth reminded them of all the memories they’ve both made growing up there.

Firstly, it was great for us to be in Devon filming a wedding as it’s a place both Kylie and myself love and enjoy visiting. Garry and Samantha’s wedding day was full of laughter and a lot of fun, especially when it came to the dreaded speeches. As Garry mentions at the beginning of the film, he spent to 03:00 am in the morning getting hammered with his friends, and didn’t write a speech, instead, he wrote some bullet points at 07:00 am (brave man). Considering the lack of planning we think he did a pretty damn good job! The whole room seemed to love it and couldn’t stop laughing, plus it made editing the wedding film very entertaining for myself.

As I’ve mentioned many other times in these wedding video blog posts, it really is a joy and pleasure to film people's wedding day and create a wedding video they will hopefully love and treasure. It’s always fascinating filming a wedding as every wedding is so different, and you immerse yourself in the day and the editing of the film so much that you can’t help but learn a little about the couple and what they stand for.

Garry and Samantha’s wedding day reflects the kind of couple they are; they value their family and friends greatly and live life to its absolute fullest. We had great fun filming your day and wish you both all the best for the future!

Kylie and James were amazing at our wedding day. We love our video which summarised our wedding perfectly and we couldn’t have asked James and Kylie for more. They worked tirelessly and even reshot moments missed by the hungover husband! Both were so professional and the finished product was flawless. I couldn’t recommend highly enough what a wonderful couple and videographers they are! Truly great value for unforgettable memories we can watch and relive. Thank you.

James + Rachael // Coombe Lodge, Bristol - Wedding Film

Back in the spring, we kicked off our wedding season with Jay and Rach’s wedding at the amazing Coombe Lodge. The wedding venue is nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills, within the North Somerset & Bristol area; Coombe Lodge has breath-taking views across the Chew Valley and plenty of grounds to wander around which is always useful when you want to get a variety of shots of the Bride & Groom with different backdrops.

Interestingly this was our first time at Coombe Lodge which is a wedding venue relatively local to us. We knew it was only a matter of time until we would have the pleasure to film a wedding there and the place didn’t disappoint.

The ceremony took place at the All Saints Church, Long Ashton, Bristol. As the Father of the Bride gave his speech it was touching to discover that it was, in fact, the same church that he got married at many moons ago. During his speech, he mentions how he never thought he’d walk down the aisle again of All Saints Church, but he felt just as proud today as the first time round.

Great speeches really do add so much to our style of filming and editing wedding videos. And on this occasion they didn’t disappoint. Jay’s speech was perfect! The battled to hold back the tears only added to the moving words he spoke about friends, family and wife. The speech gets us every time!

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day to start our wedding season. Thank you both for a wonderful wedding, keep on being happy and full of energy. We loved every minute!

This is far too long overdue but I just wanted to say thank you everything. What you created for us surpassed all our (admittedly high) expectations and you’ve given us something we can treasure forever. You captured the day beautifully and it was an absolutely pleasure to have you there.

As well as the day itself you have been brilliant through the whole editing process and thank you for providing the occasional image to keep us going while we waited for it!

The video itself is incredible. I must admit I was sceptical about what videographers would offer on top of the photography, but watching everything back brings a sense of emotion you just can’t capture in a still, it’s remembering the words you spoke and how you felt in those moments that on a day like that otherwise just become a blur. To anyone who is even remotely considering having a videographer you will not be disappointed and we honestly cannot recommend James & Kylie any more highly. In retrospect it was one of the best decisions we made.

Thanks again!

Mr & Mrs Mitchell

Rob + Caroline // Old Down Manor, Bristol - Wedding Film

The summer wedding season is in full swing and I’ve neglected my blog for way too long. So, from one extreme to another here we have a wedding we filmed way back last year the week before Christmas.

It was our first winter wedding and we were unsure what to expect to tell you the truth. Our biggest worry was the weather and we knew if the weather wasn’t behaving itself it could be a tricky day to film.

Thankfully the weather did decide to behave itself and we were welcomed to crisp winter sun. The wedding was held at Old Down Estate set on 66 acres of beautifully situated parkland near Thornbury in Bristol with panoramic views across the River Severn to Wales and the rolling hills beyond. We worked alongside the very talented Kevin Belson Photography that we’ve had the joy to work with on a few occasions now so we knew were in good company.

Rob and Caroline were great fun to film and their whole wedding day was so relaxed and full of happiness. There is something quite unique to having your wedding day just before the Christmas holidays. In my opinion, Christmas is about the coming together of family and friends, so what better to time for two families to come together and celebrate such a special time in two people's lives. It really was a special day for so many reasons.

I’ll leave you with this, “whenever you want to build a snowman, I’ll build one with you”. Love it!!!

If you're looking for a Bristol wedding videographer to film your special day look no further. We'd love to hear from you.

Steve & Carmen // Maunsel House, Somerset - Wedding Film

Back in May 2015 we arrived at Maunsel House on a overcast, drizzly morning to film Steve and Carmen's wedding. This was our first visit to Maunsel House, which is surprising considering the wedding venue is pretty much on our doorstep in Somerset.

Wow! We were lost for words when we arrived. Maunsel House is truly an epic place full of surprises everywhere you turn. Maunsel House is a 13th Century Manor set in 100 acres of stunning parkland at the heart of sprawling 2000 acre estate with woodland and luscious green lawns where guests can play a spot of croquet if they fancy it.

I can't say we've filmed any wedding where we've seen as much wildlife as we did at Maunsel House. The place can boast peacocks, miniature Shetland ponies and white fantail doves to name a few. And if that doesn't tickle your fancy then you're in for a treat when you step into the Manor House itself.

Navigating around the corridors of the Manor is a unique experience that can fool you into thinking you've just stepped into a time machine and gone back to another time! Hey, the place even has antique guns that can make for some great photo opportunities too! Maunsel House is filled with secret passageways and hidden staircases that add to the charm and character of this place, even if you do find yourself getting lost time to time... I know we did!

Anyway, back to the wedding. As Steve and Carmen's wedding day progressed the weather took a turn for the better and all of a sudden it was blue sky's all around and Maunsel House sprung to life in all its glory. Steve and Carmen's wedding day was filled with laughter and fun! What more can you ask for? We had a stunning backdrop for a stunning couple, and even the sun decided to shine eventually!

We thank you both for being so amazing and easy to work with, it was a lovely day to be part of. We wish you lots of luck, health and happiness in your futures together.

Carmen & Steve Wedding Videography Review

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!! I have watched it 4 times already. I can't thank you enough and to tell you how excited I am to see what you captured for the main film.I'll be honest, the day for me was a total blur and we both felt a little blue by the end of it because we felt we couldn't relax 100%, or enjoy what was going on around us.

The moments you have captured in that short clip has made my soul so incredibly happy and for that, I will never forget and be super grateful. I am honestly so relieved and completely in love with what you have both done. It has made me fall in love with our wedding day for the very first time.

We are both sharing a really special moment right now, and we are truly grateful. It's such a special gift you have given us and we cant thank you both enough for your efforts - we are truly grateful. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Carmen and Steve (two very happy people!).

Sonu & Akbar // Almonry Barn, Somerset - Wedding Film

This will be the first blog post of many and we're kicking off with Sonu and Akbar’s wedding we filmed back in September 2015 at the idyllic Almonry Barn situated in the beautiful countryside of Somerset.

I have to say both Kylie and myself are two very lucky people because we get the opportunity to meet and film lovely people all the time, and Sonu and Akbar are right up there in the lovely people ranks! All weddings are emotional, but this one, in particular, stood out from the rest and struck a cord with both of us.

First of all, it was barn wedding and we LOVE barn weddings! But the main reason why this wedding was so memorable to both of us was down to the heart-warming speeches and vows. When we're told that the couple will be reading their own vows at the wedding ceremony it instantly puts a big smile on our face. Reading your own vows quite simply means one thing, and that’s emotion, bags of it! And this is great for photographers and us wedding videographers! It's what we’re in constant search for at every wedding we are lucky enough to be part of.

Unfortunately, we find not as many couples choose to read their own vows these days, which is a real shame because we both believe it adds so much to the wedding day and to your wedding film if you do choose to have a wedding videographer. You can guarantee if couples are reading their own vows you best get the tissues ready because tears are bound to be in full flow. We are no exception either, especially at Sonu and Akbar’s wedding. We are both self-confessed weepers.

I personally always find myself looking forward to speeches at every wedding we film. It allows us the opportunity to find out so much about the couple, the lives they lead and the plans they have for their future together. Or maybe it's because we’re nosy? I’m not sure. But whatever the reason why, I believe it helps us greatly when it comes to carefully editing together the clients wedding film because we have that insight, that window into their lives which allows us to focus our creativity on certain areas in the film. It allows us to tell a story, not only of the day but a story of them, their hopes and ambitions.

Before I get too deep we’ll swiftly move on. Speeches can come in all shapes and sizes. Public speaking is one of my worst fears! So I have full respect for anyone that can stand up in front of a room full of people and give a speech. It’s fair to say some speeches are better than others and you have to expect that when you’re a wedding videographer and filming speeches. In Sonu and Akbar’s wedding, the speeches were perfection. I remember being in the barn filming them at the time and I knew I had something special on my hands, I knew I had more than enough content to tell the story of Sonu and Akbar.

For a wedding photographer, the words being spoken in both the speeches and ceremony is probably not as important as it is for a wedding videographer. Obviously the photographer wants to capture emotion, laughter and tears, but after all, they’re only capturing still images and not recording sound like we are. For us, the words being spoken are vital to the final wedding film. I believe that some people hold back when giving speeches because they may be worried about bringing themselves to tears and messing up the whole speech. So instead they play it on the cautious side, they keep it short and sweet and don’t truly open up to a room full of their family and friends. This is understandable don’t get me wrong! Public speaking isn’t easy! However, when the person giving the speech does open up and allow the room full of people in, something truly special happens and that’s what both Kylie and myself were lucky enough to witness at Sonu and Akbar’s wedding.

It was an honour to be a part of Sonu and Akbar’s wedding day. Quite simply this is why we do what we do. So thank you.

Sonu & Akbar Wedding Videography Review

Just seen our short film! That could be the most beautiful work of art/short film that I have seen in a very long time. Very Poignant. Perfectly edited pieces of work. speeches blending over the ends and beginning of each clip creating a very smooth transition from shot to shot. Silences in the correct places with a backdrop of ' Una Mattina' by Ludovico Einaudi...I won't deny.. this film had me choking up. Trying to hold back my emotions. A beautiful piece of work. Not just photographically. But excellent storytelling, perfectly edited to keep a steady momentum provoking emotion. We love it!
