Josie contacted us back in March to film her wedding and I remember thinking, this is really cool, but we’ve never filmed a Greek wedding before and all I had to go on was the movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’.
So after the initial panic, we sat down and did our research. The important part for us was to make sure we didn’t miss anything; we wanted to be sure we had a fair understanding of the Greek traditions that would take place on the wedding day. For example, the Groom’s best man called the “Koumbaro” will shave the groom and dress him before the wedding. We needed to know these traditions or we ran the risk of being caught out and missing something.
It quickly became apparent that we’d have lot to film on the day compared to the usual weddings we film. Our target is to tell the story of your wedding day, so frankly more to film is simply better for us because it gives us more options when it comes to piecing your wedding film together in the editing stages.
We went to the wedding as prepared as we possibly could be, but this didn’t stop us feeling slightly nervous on the day. For us, it was definitely one of the most memorable weddings we have had the pleasure of filming. Greek weddings rock and are so uplifting! And they sure know how to party too!
It really was a fabulous day and we were honoured to be part of it. Best wishes for your future Josie and George.
