Section 2 - Wedding Party & Wedding Details
If you don't have a wedding planner or somebody at the venue coordinating the day, we would recommend you have a friend or family member who knows exactly how the day is running so that you have a completely stress free day.
Section 3 - Getting to Know You
We are so grateful that you have chosen Storybox for your special day. We want your film and photos to be as personal as possible. These simple questions will help us to get to know you better, allowing us to tailor the films and photos to yourselves. (These questions are not compulsory.)
We don't always get the chance to meet our couples, so this is a good chance for us to get to know you! E.g. What do you do? How do you spend your time? What's important to you?
By telling us what you love about your venue, we can try to incorporate these details into your photos and film!
Section 4 - Bridal Preparations
Most brides tend to need 2-3 hours for makeup and hair, depending on the complexity involved. Arranging to have the bride done with hair and makeup early in the day, before most of the other girls, is best. Allow time to put on the dress and jewellery! A corseted dress should be allowed 25 minutes, while zip-up dresses can be allowed 10 minutes. Make sure there is natural light in the room where the bride will be getting ready (window light). This makes a WORLD of difference in your images! I promise! Please note: we may offer some direction during this part of the day to get the shots we need to make your wedding film or photographs awesome! If possible, try to have all bridal details together before we arrive. (Dress, jewellery, shoes, bouquet, garter, veil, etc) This will make the detail shots more efficient! Keep the area near the window free of rubbish, bags, snacks, etc. This will be where the bride will be putting on her dress! It is most common to have the Bridal Party and Mother dressed and ready before the Bride so that they can help assist the Bride into her dress.
We recommend you put your dress on some time before the ceremony which will allow us to capture those moments before heading to the ceremony to set-up our camera’s and audio. We like to be at the ceremony at least 30-minutes before it starts.
In the UK, this is the moment a family member/friend (usually the father of the bride) see's his daughter in her dress for the first time. However, in the US they do the first look with the Groom before the ceremony and it is becoming more and more popular in the UK! This is a truly magical moment for us to capture.
Please specify who, when, and where. We highly recommend you wait for us to arrive before presenting any gifts. We are always keen to capture the opening of gifts and the writing/reading of cards. Please let us know if you are willing to read out your card/ letter as this is always a really special moment to capture.
Section 5 - Groom Preprations
We only cover groom preparations if it's in the same building/location of the bridal prep. If we have planned to cover the Groom prep, please have the following ready before we arrive: 1. Grooms suit 2. Cuff Links 3. Shoes 4. Other Accessories Again, please make sure there is natural light in the room where the Groom will be getting ready (window light). This makes a WORLD of difference in your images! Please note: we may offer some direction during this part of the day to get the shots we need to make your wedding film or photographs awesome!
Section 6 - Ceremony
If your ceremony is a hotel, please leave instructions on how to validate our parking tickets or reserve a parking space in advance. Also if it is difficult to find please let us know.
Especially important if your ceremony is in a church
During the ceremony, we use small lapel mics to capture your vows. We only put this on the groom and officiant.
Your ceremony as an opportunity to express your love for each other. Writing your own unique custom vows is something that’s worth considering if you’re having your wedding filmed. We understanding it’s a daunting task, but it adds so much emotion to your wedding day and wedding film. We promise you won’t regret it.
(if applicable)
Section 7 - Video/Photo Session:
Please add this to the schedule.
For the film, we would rather get more natural shots of you both interacting, walking and enjoying each other's company. We may direct you slightly, but nothing too posed we want to capture genuine moments. If we are photographing your day, this will be done at the same time as the film. If you have booked a different photographer we are more than happy to work with them on this session if they are happy with this.
Section 8 - Speeches
As you’ve probably noticed from our films, the speeches play an important part in the storytelling process. We understand that for some people, giving a speech can be a scary thought and their main goal is to get it over with as quick as possible. Storytelling is the driving force behind the wedding films we create. We do more than simply create highlight reels. Every film we produce incorporates the depth, emotion and significance of your day. Every shot helps to weave your story together; so that you and future generations can relive your most precious and meaningful moments and words spoken. Note to Groom: We LOVE to hear how you met and fell in love, what your partner means to you and what your plans and ambitions are for the future. By no means do we want to take control of this part of your wedding day, but please be mindful that your wedding speeches play a very important part of your wedding day story. The final, mandatory, element of any successful wedding speech is to make an emotional connection between the audience and your partner. We also mic everybody who is doing a speech with a small lapel mic to make sure you have clear and crisp audio. This will be discreet and can also attach to dresses.
If so would you mind us using a light if we need to avoid grainy footage?
Most of the time the people giving speeches are positioned behind the top table, however, it can better if the speeches are given from one position in the room.
Please can you list the people that will be giving a speech:
If so we sometimes attach a small recorder to their microphone for a backup.
Section 9 - Reception
If your venue is a hotel, please leave instructions on how to validate our parking tickets or reserve a parking space in advance. If the venue is tricky to find, please let us know so we don't get lost.
Please list and specify any special event, traditions, or non-traditional moments that we should be aware of during your reception. Any other information that you would like for us to know about your reception can be listed here.
The reason for doing this is to avoid dark grainy video footage.
Section 10 - Photography
If you haven't booked us for photography, please leave this section blank.
We recommend you have a maximum of 10 group shots as this eats into a lot of your time spent with guests. This is something we ask you to schedule into your day plan after your ceremony or during canapes/ drinks reception. I also always recommend we get any shots involving grandparents or anyone elderly done first so they can get back inside and relax.
Group shots are always tricky, guests are chatting and having fun and don't particularly like being dragged off for a photograph. So it is super helpful if you nominate somebody from both sides to round up family and friends. (preferably someone who doesn't mind shouting. Normally ushers and bridesmaids are willing to help) They will also need a copy of the group shot list. This will help me massively so that I can be setting up and getting everyone in place for the photo whilst they are rounding up family and friends. If you could let me know in advance who this will be, that would be amazing!
We like to keep the couple shots as natural as possible, we give you a little direction to help you feel comfortable, but if you have a certain shot in mind that you would love to capture of the two of you then please just ask. This will normally happen either after the group shots or just as your guests are being seated for the wedding breakfast. Then weather dependent we will take you off again during sunset.
You may have already seen some of our work and know what to expect from your photos. But if you have any specific requirements on photos you would like captured please let us know.
We thank you very much for your time and patience completing our questionnaire. If you have a PDF file of your day plan can you please send it to us. After many years of filming/photographing weddings, we’ve come to understand that preparation is one of the vital keys to producing a wedding film/photos that you deserve. If you have any questions regarding anything above please let me know, we’d be more than happy to speak to you about them. Next stop, the big day! Bring it on! Don't forget to press submit below.
